River Stour
River Stour Kings Mill Road Bridge ,Stalbridge, DT10 2SN
Description
The River Stour starting at the Mill at Kings Mill Bridge travelling upstream for 2 miles is Mere Angling Clubs latest acquisition to its portfolio. A lovely stretch in beautiful surroundings with the Mill pond being the main focal point. The mill pond varies in depth from 3 feet to 18 feet and you can expect to catch Roach, Rudd, Perch, Pike the occasional Tench and large hauls of Bream averaging 5lbs. As you pass the weir fishing upstream you will encounter the larger Chub and Roach. Trotting a stick float using bread flake will attract the Chub to 5 lbs and using the same method with maggot and casters will account for the Roach and Dace.

From Gillingham go over the bridge and turn right into New Road on the B3092 and head towards East Stour. At the crossroads drive straight across towards Todber, continue on the B3092 to Marnhull and take a first right past the church into New Street. Continue onto Cox Hill until you reach the bridge over the River Stour on the Kings Mill Road. Parking on the right hand side just over the bridge alongside the railings. Please keep as close as possible to the railings as the road is quite narrow. The entrance to the river is via the gate facing upstream. The gate is secured by a coded lock. Please make sure the gate is locked after use as the farmer keeps livestock in the field heading towards the river.
