Witham Friary Lakes
Witham Friary BA11 5HB
There are two lakes on site totalling around 3 acres between them with very good access and parking with toilets. We are very lucky enough to have secured a fifteen year lease and we have great hopes for this venue. It fished better than expected last season with roach, Rudd, perch, bream and carp being caught from both lakes.
We stocked the bottom lake with 2700 tench & true crucians in Sept 17 and a mixed bag of 1700+ Rudd, roach, Bream and carp added in the December into the large lake.
2019 saw the introduction of 700lbs of roach and bream and in the summer of that year 8000 2 to 3 inch carp + F1’s was added. These carp are now being caught measuring 8 to 10 inches. A good sign for the future.
These lakes originally belonged to the monastery at Witham Friary and are said to have been dug by hand . There is an abundance of largely wild fish in both lakes and with lots of weed and marginal vegetation these lakes provide great stalking opportunities. Catch history of the lakes consist of carp, roach, Rudd, tench, perch, crucian and bream.
